If it seemed Arkansas had too many tornadoes to count this spring, that may have been true.
Forecasters said Tuesday they located a tornado track near Hickory Plains in Prairie County, pushing Arkansas’ storm total for this year to 67. The storm occurred April 25, but forecasters say details got lost in the shuffle with all of the other bad weather. Vilonia and other towns were hit the same night.
The Hickory Plains storm was on the ground for more than six miles and was rated EF1, with damage to trees, shingles and a mobile home.
Arkansas typically has just over two dozen tornadoes each year, with four deaths. The death toll so far this year is 11. The national toll is at 525 – a modern-day record.
