The Washington County sheriff says 500 smoke alarms donated to the county will be distributed to homes that need them through volunteer fire departments.
Sheriff Tim Helder said the Kidde brand alarms were given to the county by the National SAFE – Smoke Alarms For Every – Home Foundation.
Helder said the alarms will go to residents in the county’s rural areas served by volunteer fire squads.
