One of two men critically burned in a West Texas oil field accident in August has died.
The chief investigator for the Lubbock County Medical Examiner’s office says 38-year-old Abel Garcia died Thursday at University Medical Center in Lubbock.
Fernando Zamora, the other worker injured in the Aug. 19 explosion, remains in the Lubbock hospital where a hospital spokesman says he’s in critical condition.
Authorities have said the two men were hurt after leaking natural gas ignited and they were engulfed in flames at the well near Ackerly, about 45 miles northeast of Midland.
