August 3, 2009

Louisiana’s state fire marshal says the owner and manager of a SpeeDee Oil Change in Hammond, La., set fire to their own business.

Investigators say Owner Jim Capdeboscq and manager Chris Rousselleare are accused of starting the fire to cash in on insurance proceeds.

The blaze started about 5:40 p.m. on July 24 in the attic of the business.

Hammond firefighters kept the fire in the attic. The rest of the building took heavy damage from the smoke, heat and water.

Fire marshal spokesman Marc Reech said both men were arrested and booked with one count each of criminal conspiracy of arson with intent to defraud and one count of simple arson.
