…what’s he going to do with the money in prison? Normally, the compensation would help to pay his medical bills. Presumably, the prison infirmary is free of charge to inmates.
Wouldn’t a comutation of his sentence been more appropriate compensation? I guess the lawyer wouldn’t have been able to collect 1/3 of the reduced sentence though.
Does he pay for the medical treatment that he did receive from the $900,000 or do the taxpayers get hit with both?? Really makes you wonder why he was in jail.
I am sorry, but NO ONE, even the lousiest creep, deserves to have his or her medicine denied. Who may you god to say it was deserved?!! And then the records were falsified! My wife escaped from the Communists in the Ukraine, for what, to be in a country that allows anything to happen to their prisoners? I am sorry that you share the same profession with me!
I’m with you Steven. Sure, there are way too many generous judgements for frivilous claims these days. But this guy is paralysed because some guard decided he didn’t need his meds and then they made up some records to say he was given them. Regardless of what he did or why he is in jail, that is unforgiveable.
Agreed Danw and K, if this criminal wasn’t in prison for BREAKING LAWS maybe he would not be in the position that he was in. He should not be allowed to sue anyone. The State should seize this money and use it for the taxpayers waste of money for giving this CRIMINAL a roof, 3 hots and a cot but as with most prisons he probably has a plasma tv, computer and a gym. Tony and Steven – go to your communist countries that you love so much, we don’t need you here.
explain to me how prisoners get better medical treatment than millions of Americans? Prisoners get very little in the way of good medical care, that’s what this lawsuit demonstrates all too well! It is that same attitude on the part of prison staff that lead to this unnecessary judgement; instead of reacting immediately to a medical emergency, prison medical staff took their sweet time because they don’t want to coddle their charges. I remember a dentist complaining that he had to drill and fill teeth for bums who only came to jail to get free dental care! As if someone actually has a business model like that, to willingly go to prison, just to live off the prison medical budget..and don’t forget they just sit around drinking coffee, playing cards and watching TV at the county country club, huh?……you don’t know what you’re talking about!!
I agree with you and Steven; what I want to know is whether the guard still works there; this was so unnecessary but prison guards aren’t known for being too highly paid, let alone professional….when are his criminal charges going to be filed or will the local government protect him?
It is easy for you to step on someone’s constitutional rights, isn’t it? The Bill of Rights established a right to not be subject to cruel or unusual punishment….that man’s punishment was to be IN prison, but that does not extend to denying medical care. I have high blood pressure and if anyone prevents me from getting it, I would do more than SUE! If you went to prison, you’d be crying more than most, I’d bet. Advocacy for non-coddling of criminals is easy as long as you don’t touch it personally….bet you’d sue too if it was one of your relatives!

of why he was in jail or how much longer he’s going to be there. Could be the perfect punishment.
I still think it’s wrong that convicts get better medical treatment then millions of Americans.

The judgement seems pretty fair to me.
