The Louisiana State Police Insurance Fraud Unit reported that an Orleans Parish man has been arrested on a felony insurance fraud warrant. The arrest evolved from a complaint by a private insurance company.
The Louisiana State Police Insurance Fraud Unit believes Michael A. Bourg intentionally attempted to defraud his insurer by committing insurance fraud by claiming his residence sustained roof damage during Hurricane Katrina/Rita. The state police said it was evident the shingles and felt paper where not a result of wind but from human intervention.
Bourg reportedly used this damage in an attempt to increase the repair cost on his home. Bourg was arrested and charged with one count of Insurance Fraud. He voluntarily surrendered and was booked into the Orleans Parish Correctional Center.
