I\’ve heard there are some companies that can\’t read what they write.

Obviously my agent, Mike Roby in Beaumont, is one of them. When I called him this morning he told me that I knew more than he did about it and to wait for the letter. The article says my agent is to come out and inspect the fence (if under $20,000) and issue a check. More Allstate gray areas!!! I urge everyone to drop Allstate as their coverage carrier when all the claims are settled.

I, like Allstate on ALE, do not deny their claims…….nor do i recognize them either. My payment is a blank sheet of paper this month.

It\’s a real shame the state did not approve the policy form Allstate applied for. It was the same as in other states. The ALE would not have been an issue.

Hal, it\’s a bigger shame that Allstate wants the market share, but does not want to extend its \”Good Hands\” when its policyholders need help. It seems to me that they accepted what the state approved or they would not have made a push to write first and second tier business. They are just another one of the arrogant \”Big 3\” that dares TDI to make them put up or shut up.

That\’s true. But then there are penalties for paying claims that are not owed under the policy. It\’s a fine line between that at mismanagement of funds.
I\’ve written policy endorsements for surplus lines policies. Writing a policy that has to be approved by the state has to be like eating dinner by committee.

I\’m sure if JimnTX owned a business and was told he had to pay for something that he never agreed to or collected money to cover the expenses that he would have no problem doing so. If Allstate has to pay these claims then all of our premiums will go up to cover it. No thanks Jim, I don\’t live there so I sure don\’t want to pay for someone else who does. Easy to say \”make the big insurance companies pay\”. How do you think they got to be a big company to begin with. Not by paying claims that are not coverd thats for sure.

As an agent I don\’t mind expanding the policy and increasing premiums. We get paid based on premium we write.
The problem I see is with negating the value of contracts. If it can be done with one business it will work with another.
Imagine an attorney who does a stock redemption plan for a business. Then after the death of one of the owner he his sued because he didn\’t \”finish the job\” by including wills for everyone?
OR after he does the stock redemption plan they tell him that his price should also include wills with trusts for each of the owner. If the court agrees the original contract means nothing.

In regards to Susan, whether you live in Texas or any other state, premiums will always increase because of natural disasters, i.e. earthquakes, floods, wildfire\’s are apparently a part of our life in the good ol US, so just deal with it!! We suffered extensive damage to our home and property, if it\’s covered, then what\’s the argue? I shouldn\’t have to beg for money from my insurance company so I can get my life back to normal, nor do I don\’t want to be out $1000 or $5000 because of a storm that nearly wiped us out. I paid for flood and homeowners, it\’s that gamble that we will not have to use the policy, so shut up and pay up. This is my first claim and hopefully my last in my lifetime. Everyone is paying for Katrina and no one griped about it, Southeast Texas has had no one help us after opening our homes and pockets to our neighbors in Louisiana. No one wins with natural disasters, insurance companies or policy holders!! I don\’t want a premium increase either, but it is inevitable!!

I am fully aware of the expense of natural disasters in regards to insurance. That is why I am against the insurance companies having to pay for things that are not covered on your policy. If they are forced to cover losses that the policy does not cover than my premiums will go up even more. I am very sorry for everyone who is struggling due to the hurricains but the insurance industry did not cause the hurricains and should not be expected to fix everyone\’s problems for them.

Then what is insurance for? Wind/Storm damage except for Hurricanes, yeah, that\’s fair, I don\’t think so. I guess I pay my premiums for nothing!! Simply put, no one wins!
