Texas Gov. Rick Perry announced recently that the Baylor College of Medicine campus in Houston will receive $4.2 million in federal mitigation funding to prevent floodwaters from entering campus buildings.
The mitigation funding, provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Public Assistance Program, will be used to install flood barriers, shields and floodgates, and to modify entrance elevations.
Officials said 175 points of entry will be affected. The Baylor College of Medicine campus is located at the Texas Medical Center in Houston.
