Sean Welch, senior vice president and chief claims officer of Amica Mutual Insurance Co., will retire at the end of the year after a 41-year career with the company, and Acel Silva will succeed Welch in the role effective Dec. 1.
As senior vice president and chief claims officer, Silva will oversee Amica’s claims organization.
Silva has more than 20 years of leadership experience in the property/casualty industry. He joined Amica in 2003 as an associate claims adjuster. Over the course of his career, he has held increasingly larger leadership roles spanning claims operations, compliance, customer experience, analytics, technology transformation and organizational development.
Amica is headquartered in Lincoln, Rhode Island. The mutual insurer offers auto, home, life and umbrella insurance policies nationwide.
