This is great advice! I’m a plaintiff’s attorney who has obtained several seven figure settlements from trucking companies. One of the reasons I got into my work is to make companies take better safety measures to avoid causing injuries, and thus avoid having large claims against them. I’m really glad to see that getting hit with seven figure verdicts causes trucking companies to reconsider their safety practices.

This is good news. Sadly, the framing of these industry suggestions is to protect corporate assets. It even criticizes liability theories that attack trucking company safety measures. While cases against trucking companies are intended to compensate injury victims, the secondary motivation is to encourage safety measures so there are as few injury victims as possible. Public safety should not be conditioned on corporate profit.
