QBE North America Appoints Johnston CEO of North America Operations

QBE North America, an operating division of QBE Group, named Russell Johnston chief executive officer, North American Operations. Johnston will join QBE on May 31, 2016 and be based in New York, will succeed David Duclos who is retiring from full-time executive employment.

Duclos has agreed to remain with QBE as a non-executive director of QBE Emerging Markets and Equator Re, as well as offering his market expertise to operational initiatives across QBE Group.

Johnston has more than 25 years’ experience in the insurance industry in North America, and has held a range of senior business and operational roles since joining American International Group Inc. (AIG) in 1990. From 2011 to November 2015 Johnson served as president of AIG Casualty in the Americas, with responsibility for all U.S., Canada, Bermuda and London-based U.S. Casualty underwriters.

Auto Insurance Exec Slattery Joins Driveway Team

Mobile telematics company Driveway Software, Inc. named Mike Slattery executive vice president of Product and Operations.

Calif.-based Driveway developed and patented the first purely smartphone-based technology that helps drivers improve their driving skills and helps insurers reduce risk with better pricing data, making usage based insurance (UBI) scalable and cost-effective for the first time.

Slattery offers unique insights to the services and support insurers need to build successful telematics programs. He will help evolve Driveway’s industry-leading smartphone telematics technology into the most compelling connected auto insurance experience in the industry.

Among his notable accomplishments, Slattery developed and launched a telematics based teen safety program, Safeco’s Teensurance. After Safeco was acquired by Liberty Mutual Insurance, he developed an innovative OBD-based accident forgiveness program that recycled OBD plug-in devices making large-scale deployments cost effective. Next, he went to The Hartford where he launched TrueLane, another personal lines UBI program that quickly scaled across several states.

Most recently with AAA Club Partners as SVP of Innovation, Strategy and Connected Car, Slattery designed and delivered market-ready telematics programs that joined UBI with value-added services to make vehicle ownership more convenient and enjoyable while building deeper more engaging relationships with policyholders.

Zuniga Appointed AVP of Third Party Administration Programs, Seibels Claims Solutions

The Seibels Bruce Group, Inc., an insurance services provider of business process outsourcing solutions, announced the appointment of Jennifer C. Zuniga to assistant vice president of Third Party Administration programs for the claims division of the company, Seibels Claims Solutions. She is based in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

In her new role, Zuniga will serve as an account liaison that works closely with new and existing clients, senior management and various stakeholders to ensure business objectives and claims program goals are met. From account management, onboarding and implementation to proposal development, contract negotiation and contract compliance, she will be actively involved in all aspects of TPA operations at Seibels.

Zuniga previously served as the director of SIU and subrogation at Seibels for over ten years. She is a Fraud Claims Law Associate and an active member of the International Association of Special Investigators and the National Association of Subrogation Professionals.
