Clothing Company Recalls Girls’ Jackets Over Strangulation Risk

A clothing company is recalling 756 girls jackets sold at Burlington Coat Factory stores in the U.S., saying drawstrings on the jackets pose a risk of strangulation.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Wednesday that Ram’s Imports Inc. of New York is recalling its IQ brand girls’ hooded pink leopard jackets. These were sold exclusively at Burlington Coat Factory stores nationwide from October 2010 through August 2013 for about $15.

The jackets have a drawstring through the hood that can pose a strangulation hazard. No related injuries have been reported.

The CPSC said that the recall includes jackets in girls sizes four through 12. The jackets have pink and black leopard print drawstrings and similar print on the sides of the jacket. The model number for recalled products is 86557 and can be found printed on a sewn in label in the back of the neck.

The agency advised consumers to remove the drawstrings or return the jacket to Ram’s Imports for a full refund.
