Due to a risk of fire, BMW has issued a recall that impacts 88,911 Mini Coopers manufactured between 2006 and 2011.
The recall includes 2007-2011 Mini Cooper S, 2008-2011 Mini cooper S Clubman, 2009-2011 Mini Cooper S Convertibles, 2009-2011 Mini Cooper JCW, 2009-2011 Mini Cooper JCW Clubman, 2009-2011 Mini Cooper JCW Convertibles, and 2011 Cooper S Countryman Passenger cars manufactured between November 14, 2006 through January 18, 2011.
According to the German car manufacturer, the auxiliary water pump’s electronic circuit board could malfunction and overheat causing smoldering that could result in a vehicle fire.
The safety recall, expected to begin in February 2012, will have BMW Dealers replacing the water pump free of charge.
