Insurance Journal Magazine Unveils Android Phone Application

November 23, 2010

Insurance Journal, the leading news source for the property/casualty insurance industry, has launched a new Android phone application, that allows readers to view news and multimedia content published on the magazine’s Web site.

The free Android phone application is the only insurance news resource available in the Android marketplace, which is in keeping with the company’s model of staying “ahead of the curve,” according to Derence Walk, design and marketing executive at Insurance Journal’s parent company, Wells Publishing Inc. Walk, who spearheaded the development of the Android app project, said because Android is the fastest-growing smart phone platform, and is not restricted to one wireless phone provider, more readers will have access to the magazine’s stories, videos and podcasts to keep abreast of the industry.

The app features an easy-to-use interface that allows readers to easily browse regional, national or international news and features. Additionally, a special browser allows readers to keep up to date whenever news breaks on InsuranceJournal.com, and has a unique sharing feature to give readers the ability to quickly share content with their colleagues and friends.

Three of the industry’s top companies have signed on as charter sponsors to support the Android phone application: Tapco, Encompass and Great American.

The application can be downloaded by searching for “Insurance Journal” on any Android phone using the Android Market app.
