I may be misinformed, but I don’t see this totally as a male/female, or white/black confrontation. I have talked to white males who have been on a job ten years only to have a younger white male hired in at a higher salary. The problem is that salaries are based on many criteria that avoid the real issue of productivity. Some lazy people prefer it that way! Some companies have 500 pay grades! I don’t think this problem gets solved until there is total disclosure and open books on who makes what (and why) inside an organization. Since most companies would rather shut their doors than ever be that honest, I don’t think that will ever happen.

Highest paid per Forbes going back as far as 1995. Educated, black women. Most discriminated against, white male blue collar workers.

    Hurrah!

I don’t give a damn what any of you like or don’t like or if you’re “concerned.” I can wite my opinion, which by the way is based on fact, it’s a free country, at least until Commie Obammie gets his feet grounded.

I’m female, and I agree with Reagan, a little. There are so many idiots who think they deserve equal pay, but all they do is sit and gossip all day, and say they work more. If everyone would just be quiet and do the work instead of talking about work, they’d make $. We never know the whole story as there’s always 3 sides, the woman, the company, and the truth.

Reagan is right. Women are 40 years behind men in the workforce so on average they should be paid less. I’ve managed both men and women and women are always the biggest problem causers from whining, complaining, WC issues, gossip, etc… Most women even admit they would prefer a male manager vs. a female.

Yes, SFO, threatened by your Democratic/Communist pals in Congress, not from any EQUAL playing field. When it is equal, you lose everytime. So, you need to slant the chips in your favor, yet again. But, all you are doing is killing America. Desensitized Day care babies grow up to tote guns to school

It is simple or should be. Do the work and get paid period. America has become spolied. The today workers feel entitled to many things they have not earned. Tough! Earn it , get it, otherwise get the boot. Performance is all that counts.

I think there was only one thoughtful comment in this whole dialogue. This may or may not add anything, but here goes.

My experience is both women and men get discriminated against. A company I worked for fell all over itself to hire less qualified women at higher pay in order to be politically correct. A friend works for a company that hires people for “as little as they can negotiate” which tends to discriminate against those who are currently paid less. I think America as a whole is moving toward a right balance, but is still not there. But giving trial lawyers more play to extract money from good businesses is also wrong.

In this case, a jury decided there was discrimination, but the Supreme Court said you cannot go back infinitely to right a wrong. The jury may have made a flawed decision, but I don’t know that and that is the best system we have to get equity. However, I think no statute of limitations is wrong, too. My suggestion is to compromise. 2 year statute of limitations after knowledge of the discrimination.

I feel bad for women who ACTUALLY get paid less for the same work as men. However, I cringe every time there is a discussion about this. The “78 cents on the dollar” statistic is thrown around casually as if it is proof of systematic discrimination against women. Well, I guess it kind of is proof, but . . . the entire 22 cent discrepancy is NOT due to discrimination. But most of the people here work in the insurance industry, so I probably don’t need to explain why.
