Sedgwick CMS Names Posey as COO for Claims Services

Memphis, Tenn.-based Sedgwick Claims Management Services Inc. (Sedgwick CMS), appointed Paul J. Posey as chief operating officer. In his new position, Posey has responsibility for all Sedgwick CMS operating groups engaged in the direct delivery of claims services on behalf of clients.

Leading the business areas that report to Posey are Bradley F. Johnson, executive vice president and director of disability operations; Steven E. Penman, executive vice president and director of casualty operations; Donald F. Sloan, executive vice president and director of medical management services; and Robert A. Johnson, senior vice president and director of specialty operations.

Posey has served 12 years at Sedgwick CMS. He is an attorney by training and served general counsel of Sedgwick CMS until 2007. He has also been extensively involved with operations, corporate management and strategy, and the public policy issues affecting the company’s clients and industry. Most recently, Posey worked on the company’s specialty operations and on corporate matters as senior legal officer. He will continue to report jointly to David A. North, president and CEO, and Executive COO James B. Wiertelak.

Posey is succeeded as our senior legal officer by Sedgwick CMS General Counsel Kimberly D. Brown, who has joined the company’s executive committee.

Posey has served as both chairman and president of the American Association of Independent Claims Professionals. He holds a J.D. from The University of Memphis School of Law and an M.B.A. from Christian Brothers University. Prior to joining the Sedgwick organization in 1996 he was in private practice.
