Insurance Journal’s Wells Publishing Named a Top Company to Work For

January 29, 2008

Wells Publishing, the parent company of Insurance Journal magazine, InsuranceJournal.com, ClaimsJournal.com, and MyNewMarkets.com has been named the second best publishing company to work for in the United States by Publishing Executive magazine.

“This award is a real testament to the environment we’ve created inside Wells Publishing,” said CEO Mitch Dunford. “We recognize our employees are our most important asset, and we place a high value on giving them the room and autonomy they need to do their jobs well. It’s been our recipe for our success, and the main reason we continue to grow our entire organization so quickly.”

The ranking comes amidst a record-breaking sales year for Wells Publishing, Dunford said.

Added Publisher and Chairman Mark Wells: “Our goal is to attract top talent, and give them the tools and opportunities they need to excel. Clearly, our employees have really responded well to our approach.”
The rankings, which were based on employee surveys, gave Wells an overall score of 93.3 out 100. The company earned particularly high marks for its open-book management style, the degree of autonomy granted to its employees and its flexible work environment.

Noelle Skodzinski, editor in chief of Publishing Executive, said “we had an amazing response this year, and it was really competitive. The companies that made the top 20 list truly excel in certain areas, primarily in showing respect and support for their employees and the need for balance between their employees’ work and personal lives.”

Added Dunford: “We will continue to strive to be a top magazine publisher. The entire company is dedicated to meeting our mission of delivering original news content to our readers, adding value to our advertisers, and creating the top workplace in the business for some of the best people in publishing.”
