Being wrongfully accused is not the issue: they were prosecuted malisciously. It was total misfeasance. The city of Durham or the county or whatever should be pushing money at these familes hand over fist to try to get themto settle for 50% of what a jury would give them. Nifong should go to jail, and so probably should some on his staff.
What Imus and the Rutgers “hos” have to do with this I don’t know, but there is no equivalence whatsoever between what Nifong did and what Imus did.
Just like some say Mike Vick deserved what he got then I say the same about the guys. As most of the posts here and in other articles say, people should take PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. The players don’t deserve any money because they got themselves in their own situation and now the school, alumni have to pay for THEIR mistake. Duke University should sue THEM for disorderly conduct because this frat house was on the campus and they also harassed several Black females as they were passing by the house that night. They should sue too.
Let’s just make this a sue happy pot and let everyone sue everyone else and see who’s left standing in the end. As far as I am concerned it wasn’t like these guys were All-American in the first place. They shouldn’t get paid for their stupidity.
Hey, Hey, Hey people…let’s not discourage those of us who work in the sex entertainment field. In fact, let’s bring the sex industry into the daylight in this country and encourage more sex entertainers by supporting COYOTE (“Cast Off Your Old, Tired Ethics”), get the ho’s organized, and start taxing the sex industry. I don’t think these guys should get anything but actual costs. Nifong continued to prosecute even after DNA evidence proved him wrong. Because they were maliciously prosecuted – and persecuted – they should be compensated for their losses. Their only mistake was hiring a stripper that wound up falsely accusing them. Don’t get me wrong I have nothing against strippers, just this one.
Unfortunately someone is going to walk away rich from this. And I agree Nifong should have served jail time.
