Actually guys and ladies, practical is \”sort of\” right. Insurance IS the problem. The reason that costs have skyrocketed in medical care is because of the prevelance of available insurance. People no longer care how much health care costs them because they pay only a few measly dollars every time they run to the doctor for the sniffles. When I was a kid and my mom and dad had to actually pay at least 20 (sometimes up to 50) percent of my medical bills we only went to the doctor if we were actively bleeding out of our eyeballs. Otherwise we were sent upstairs to sleep it off. Now, we run to the doctor for everything, ask for antibiotics to cure our colds (which are viruses and can\’t be cured with antibiotics) develop antimicrobial wipes for everything (which then create superbugs which are resistant to our medicines) and never have to pay more than a few bucks (and even that can be written off thru use of a health savings account or other tax deduction). What we need is not MORE coverage but LESS. The more people are made individually accountable for the costs of medicine, the more they will shop for a bargain. The more bargain shoppers there are the lower prices will have to become – very simple supply and demand. And please, no garbage about \”bargain\” medical care – as I recall back in the 70s when I was a kid I got very good care for my Mom and Dad\’s dollar, thanks.

Isn\’t the incredible smugness of liberals infuriating. They are (they think) the smartest kids in the classroom and we should just take their word for everything. Facts, we don\’t need no stinking facts, we feeeel it\’s the right thing to do. It\’s certainly great that we have free speach for everyone in this country, even morons who have no understanding of economics.

Ok, the top 35% of the taxpayers in this country already pay 97% of the taxes. How in the world is Edwards going to squeeze 120 billion out of the last 3% without going after the lower 50% of the wage earners? Not possible. I have to agree with Caveat on the availability issue. I have friends and relatives who run to the dr everytime they have a runny nose or a pimple. They have taken more antibotics by the time they are ten they I have taken in 40 years. I did a bout with a kidney stone last year, I toughed it out at home with no meds. It wasn\’t fun, but I made it through.

Edwards plan has been located in a bunker in MA (he feels more welcome there than NC)

\”my first plan is to offer universal health coverage to all Americans. It\’s simple; by increasing taxes only by 1%, we can pay for this. There will be no co-pays; only deductibles. If you are in the top 10% earnings, your ded is $500; top 50% your ded is $250. If you are in the lowest 20% of income, you don\’t have a ded, however, you do need to make a small contrbution to the \’re-elect Edwards campaing\’.

Now, on to those criticisms about class envy. I was in a bank, and noticed they didn\’t have a 13th floor. Now, the bank was only 10 stories high, but it got me to thinkin\’: why don\’t we just eliminate the lowest 20%; we just don\’t count em\’ (unless they vote).

In regards to my universal plan, I want to raise taxes on the top 20% of wage earners who haven\’t tax sheltered their money and/or placed into special trusts, those tax rates will go to 48%. That way, I will be taxing the rich. I\’ve decided to lower taxes on people who do not earn money to zero. Now, I know, we\’ve got a budget deficit, but it\’s really not fair to apply 10% or 15% to someone who aint makin\’ no money, now, is it?

The second part of my plan is to oppose anything president Bush is in favor of; only thru your support can we defeat Bush and prevent him from getting re-elected!

The other part of my second plan is to opposed anything the republicans come up with, but to position myself as the sane alternative to Hillary; dag gum, she\’s just a liberal in stockin\’s; I\’ve learned allot since the last election. I\’ve learned of your hopes, your dreams, I\’ve learned there really aren\’t two Americas, but actually one. I\’ve learned of the high cost of food to the poor trying to make it. I was taking to Irene Benkers of Bettendorf, Iowa, the other day when I was campaigning, and she told me how hard it was to even make enough to buy food for the family. Things were so tight she considered feeding herself and her family things that you and I would not eat. She\’s in the audience today; she drove her motorhome down here to Pawductchy, NC, to be part of this campaign. She collects rubberbands to pay for food. She was telling me about her recent experience at a large, big box store, who wouldn\’t give me a good deal on one of them Sony thingamabobs for my son. Anyway, she said is getting harder and harder to pay for gas for her motorhome. She recently had it painted, and it\’s quite a beaut, but if reminded me of getting my tires rotated at that large retailed…it was right after the November 2004 elections, and after eating us out of house, home, and a couple refrigerator racks, my wife told me Mr. Kerry had called about a recount, but I couldn\’t find the phone under all the twinkie wrappers and Wendy\’s cartons on the floor; I figured who cares, who would want to be VP to that bore anyway. I was getting hungry again, so I went out for some snacks and necessities. The dogs were getting whiny as I hadn\’t fed them, so I was in Wal-Mart; I had one cart full of Sam\’s brand pizzas and muffins, and I had a second cart to load several large bags of PXXXXX dog chow and was in line to check out. A woman behind me asked if I had any dogs; I thought \’yeah lady, I just buy this stuff for fun\’. But I tried to be polite, but she continued to pry, and I was feeling a bit crabby so on impulse, I told her no, I was starting dog food diet again (brand name withheld, but one of the namebrands), although I probably shouldn\’t because I ended up in the hospital last time. I opened the end of the bag and took out a handful and started eating the stuff. I was too hungover to taste anything, but it wasn\’t half bad. I embellished it abit and told her for meals, I sometimes pour beef broth over it and pretend it\’s roast beef with gravy. Continuing, I told the nosy twit I\’d lost 50 pounds the last time I tried the diet, but I awakened in an intensive care unit with tubes coming out of most of my body and IV\’s in both arms. Her eyes about bugged out of her head.

I went on and on with the bogus diet story and she was totally buying it. I told her that it was an easy, inexpensive diet and that the way it works is to load your pockets or purse with nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The package said the food is nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again.

I have to mention here that practically everyone in the line was by now enthralled with my story, particularly a tall guy behind her. I was already on my second handful of nuggets, and a couple people behind me asked if they could try them and did. No one complained about the taste, and the tall guy even said it was pretty good.

Horrified, the lady asked if something in the dog food had poisoned me and was that why I ended up in the hospital.

I said no…..I\’d been sitting in the street licking my butt when a car hit me. Now that\’s two America\’s if there ever was one!
