If we got insurance out of health care and had universal health care for everyone, we would be in a better position to compete with the rest of the civilized world. Maybe some of those lost jobs could have stayed. Maybe mature industries wouldn\’t have to try and figure out how to handle the debt of paying for retiree benefits. The point is the cost should be shared by all through a health care system. Now we all pay for it through higher insurance premiums (90% increase) and the \”for profit\” system gets the lions share of that increase while leaving uninsured people to end up in emergency rooms that we are paying for through taxes. It would be better for all of us to admit that health care with a push on good health through education is what the country needs. We have one of the worst systems in the civilized world at the highest price.

    Practical,

You\’re wasting your breath. This article has already been infected with the \”socialist\” bug. Once you get \’em started, you can\’t expect to have a rational exchange.

Please define your definition of the worst healthcare system. How many cures for cancer have come from these countries? How about life saving drugs? How about technology, like MRI, Cat Scan, Laser etc. How about quality of Doctors and Nurses? How about clenliness of the hospitals? I look forward to your answers.

When will you people learn that it is a waste of time to argue over politics? When will you learn that your arguments are just as meaningless and silly as statments made by many of our self seving politicians who fail to understand the meaning of public service? We need some creative thinking from someone — blah, blah, blah….

The problem with giving healthcare to everyone: Look at Canada. Their system sounds similar to Edwards\’ plan. Forgive me if I\’m mistaken, but do they not have problems getting seen by specialists for those diseases not routinely covered by general practitioners? Why should docs specialize if they aren\’t going to profit by being a cardiologist, neurologist, etc. Then, instead of reading articles about these specialists treating people from other countries, we\’ll be reading articles about Americans having to go to other countries to see specialists. Sounds scary!

Here\’s some creative thinking. Why don\’t we tax you at 100%? Blah blah blah…

I don\’t know…..I have talked with several Canadians who vacation here in Florida (this is not a homowners insurance issue)they tell me that they love their health care system and don\’t have a problem. In fact many tell me it is a shame to see so many of their elderly friends in the U.S. having to work just for the health care benefits..i.e the 85 year old check out girl at the grocery store.

Last time I checked I never met a Doctor who didn\’t make a lot of money….more than the insurance agents at least. Maybe there is something wrong with the system?

Vlad you can google US health care studies and do some actual reading – or you can go home and continue to watch Bill O\’Reilly

So, you couldn\’t answer one question, let alone all of them. To paraprhase Steve Martin in Planes, Trains and Automobiles \”The next time you try to argue on your own behalf, try to make a point, its so much more interesting for the rest of us\”
