January 11, 2007

T. Mark Fay Consulting announced the recipients of $3,000 annual scholarships for college Juniors or Seniors who have an interest in insurance claims as a career.

“This is part of an industry-wide effort to identify, mentor and support the bright young people we need in claims,” said Mark Fay, president of T. Mark Fay Consulting. “The U.S. economy depends on a strong insurance community. That strength comes in large measure from great claims people who evaluate and control the economic costs of catastrophe and help ease the human trauma involved.”

Sarah Hinojosa is the recipient of the James J. Gebolys Honorary Scholarship. She is a senior at the University of Texas San Antonio where she majors in Political Science.

Katherine Whitney is the recipient of the William Pack Memorial Scholarship. Whitney is a Junior at Western State College of Colorado in Gunnison. She majors in Sociology and Business.

Laurie O’Berry is the recipient of the T. Mark Fay Foundation Scholarship. She is a Junior at Huntington College in Montgomery Alabama and is a Major in Business.

“These were extremely difficult decisions,” said Gebolys who is both a scholarship namesake and member of the decision making committee. “I was incredibly impressed by the large number of talented, qualified applicants. These three fine candidates distinguished themselves by both outstanding academics, and a strong desire for a career in claims.”
