Argonaut Group Inc., based in San Antonio, announced that Gregory M. Vezzosi has joined the organization as executive vice president and chief operating officer.
Vezzosi will report to Mark E. Watson III, president and chief executive officer. Watson said Vezzosi brings thirty years of insurance experience, mainly in large specialty operations, to the insurer group. Vezzosi “will guide our core business strategy as we leverage our unique capabilities in the marketplace and expand our portfolio of specialty products and services towards the goal of sustainable and profitable growth,” Watson said.
Prior to joining Argonaut, Vezzosi served as senior vice president, Specialty Commercial, for St. Paul Travelers, where he was responsible for the property and casualty portfolio of specialty commercial businesses, including technology underwriting, excess casualty, ocean marine, United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Lloyd’s, and global underwriting.
Prior to joining The St. Paul, Vezzosi held various senior management and executive positions for two insurance companies. He spent 20 years at Chubb & Son in underwriting management and branch executive management roles. He also served in executive management roles at Royal & SunAlliance in Charlotte, N.C., most recently as senior vice president and chief underwriting officer.
