GoodWorks Extends Charitable Reach to National Accounts with HRH

June 16, 2006

GoodWorks Insurance, based in North Canaan, Conn., is extending its unusual charitable philosophy to national accounts with the help of a joint risk management agreement with large insurance broker Hilb Rogal & Hobbs, Connecticut, a subsidiary of Hilb Rogal & Hobbs Company (HRH).

GoodWorks Insurance entered into the arrangement with HRH through its newly launched affiliate GoodWorks National Accounts, LLC. Working with HRH, this organization provides insurance to large national and specialty insurance risks in the commercial property and casualty market.

GoodWorks National Accounts embraces the same philosophy of GoodWorks Insurance by making a commitment to donate 50 percent of its annual operating profits to local community charities.

The agreement calls for HRH to utilize its network to help GoodWorks clients manage their risks in property and casualty, employee benefits, professional liability, and other areas of specialized exposure.

According to Joseph L. Grochmal, president/CEO of GoodWorks Insurance and GoodWorks National Accounts, the joint venture helps his agency provide large customers with the “highest quality insurance services while extending our mission of corporate social responsibility by providing substantial donations to more communities.”

John Lyon, president, HRH, Connecticut, said GoodWorks should help to change the perception of the insurance industry among consumers. “I do not know of any other insurance firm contracting to give away half its profit to charities,” said Lyon. “We’re thrilled to be linked with GoodWorks and excited to help the company in its philanthropic mission.”

GoodWorks is a private company that believes business should proactively give back to local communities in the form of responsible capitalism. It provides its customers with insurance coverage, while giving local charities 50 percent of its annual operating profits to fund education, healthcare or safety programs in local communities.
