Chicago Lakefront Repairs Taking Place After Storm

The Chicago Park District says cleanup has started on the Illinois city’s North Side lakefront path following storms that ripped up large chunks of asphalt.

Officials said Monday repairs won’t be completed until the beginning of next week at the earliest. High winds created large waves on Lake Michigan on Friday that tore up the jogging and biking path.

Park District officials say repairs will likely cost more than $100,000, and possibly closer to $200,000.

Crews picked up loose concrete and asphalt Monday in preparation to fix the path, which people were still using Monday. WLS-TV reports cyclists were navigating around piles of debris and potholes with extra caution.
