A Bettendorf contractor is ready to begin work rebuilding the fire-damaged Credit Island Lodge in Davenport, Iowa.
Public Works director Mike Clarke told the Quad-City Times that Swanson Construction has “mobilized to the site” and is putting together a construction plan.
Davenport has received a $1.6 million insurance payment to fund the construction, which is expected to take about six months.
The 92-year-old structure was badly damaged by a fire in May 2013.
City officials had hoped the rebuilt lodge could open by Halloween, but the target completion date now is Christmas.
