2 Injured in Chicago Water Tank Fall File Lawsuit

Two people injured when a century-old water tank fell from a Chicago condominium building are suing the building’s owner.

The complaint filed Friday in Cook County court seeks unspecified damages.

In a statement, attorney Richard F. Burke Jr. says 27-year-old Lauren Hussar and 29-year-old Jack Baginski were outside the North Side building Wednesday when the wooden water tank fell about nine stories. He says it crashed on the ground next to them, sending debris and water flying.

Authorities have said the tank was about eight feet wide and 12 feet tall and was full of water.

Burke says Baginski and Hussar were taken to an area hospital, where Hussar remains. A third person also was injured.

Burke is seeking maintenance and inspection records for the building and its water tank.
