Officials say highway patrol troopers from South Dakota and Minnesota have made 188 arrests and issued 522 warnings during a joint enforcement operation on a stretch of Interstate 90.
The daylong enforcement effort took place Thursday on I-90 between Chamberlain, S.D., and Fairmont, Minn.
South Dakota Patrol Capt. Kevin Joffer says this is the second year troopers from the two states have teamed up to raise public awareness about highway safety.
Arrests made by troopers included one for drunken driving, 90 for speeding, 22 for seatbelt violations, 11 for drugs, two for stop sign violations and 26 for violations involving drivers licenses, insurance or vehicle registration.
