Jury Sides With Bus Manufacturers in Missouri Crash

Jurors have sided with school bus manufacturers in a 2005 Missouri crash that killed two motorists and critically injured two schoolchildren.

The Kansas City Star reports that Clay County jurors came to the same conclusion as federal safety officials. Both found that the likely cause of the crash was that the Liberty school bus driver accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake.

Friday’s decision means the family of three victims won’t receive any money from the manufacturers of the bus and its brake parts.

The families claimed in a lawsuit that faulty brakes caused the crash.

The plaintiffs’ attorney, Gary C. Robb, said his clients were disappointed in the outcome. He called what happened “a horrible tragedy.”
