More Emergency Sirens Planned for Ohio Capital

The city of Columbus is adding 14 emergency sirens around Ohio’s capital city.

WCMH in Columbus reports that the Franklin County emergency agency director says a survey indicates some 85 percent of people count on sirens to warn them of tornadoes or other emergencies.

The city will spend $120,000 and use grants totaling more than $136,000. Sirens will be placed based on population, coverage areas, and other factors. Work to install the sirens is expected to begin in late April or early May.
