The Human Services Campus was opened next to a mobile home park provided for tornado victims after the storm. It allowed about 40 groups to offer services to nearly 500 families living in the mobile home park. The center was operated by The Joplin Family YMCA.

With fewer than 35 people still living in the Federal Emergency Management mobile homes, officials will move the center’s services to a downtown Joplin YMCA. The building will close March 29 but services will be offered at the downtown YMCA until May.

The Joplin Globe reports campus director Kellee Shepherd says the center made about 4,000 contacts since it opened a year ago.
