Walking Tours Mark Catastrophic 1913 Ohio Flood

January 3, 2013

A catastrophic flood 100 years ago in southwest Ohio will be marked by a new program arranged by a history buff who directs walking tours.

Leon Bey, a retired Dayton Metro Library employee, will take participants on tours recalling survival amid the 1913 flood destruction in Dayton.

His Gem City Walking Tours, now in its seventh year, hosted walks for at least 1,000 people in 2012.

Dayton library history specialist Nancy Horlacher tells the Dayton Daily News the library is planning new exhibits to commemorate the flood.
