A lawsuit filed against an Iowa House candidate by a former college roommate has been dismissed.
The Des Moines Register reports that online court documents showed the lawsuit against 22-year-old Jake Highfill, of Johnston, was dismissed Friday.
The lawsuit filed earlier this year by 23-year-old Carson Kness, also of Johnston, accused Highfill of hitting Kness in the face with a glass bottle at a party. Kness alleged he was permanently disfigured and sought damages.
Highfill denied wrongdoing and claimed self-defense in court documents. He said the party was in 2009, exceeding the statute of limitations. Kness claimed it was in 2010.
Highfill won his June 5 primary race against an incumbent Republican and faces Democrat Kelsey Clark on Nov. 6.
