Work is under way to raise a portion of a state highway near Ryder, N.D., to protect the road from flooding.
The Minot Daily News reports that some of state Highway 28 in northwest North Dakota was flooded last year and impassable for a time.
State Transportation Department spokeswoman Jamie Olson says the $7.4 million project is being funded with federal money. The project covers 1.6 miles.
Olson says the work is slated to be completed by the end of October.
