Ohio Man Charged With Stealing From Storm Victims

April 17, 2012

Ohio’s attorney general says a man has been charged in southwest Ohio with stealing from at least nine storm victims in Ohio and Kentucky by taking their money to repair storm damage and not doing the work.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine says a grand jury in Cincinnati on Thursday indicted 39-year-old Joshua Salyers on 10 felony counts. The charges include engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, theft and theft from an elderly or disabled adult.

A warrant has been issued for the Butler County man’s arrest. His phone number was not immediately available.

Investigators say Salyers ran a storm damage restoration company and allegedly took more than $43,000 from homeowners in Hamilton, Butler and Stark counties in Ohio and in Campbell County in northern Kentucky.
