Federal safety inspectors who investigated a floor collapse at a Cincinnati, Ohio, casino construction project say six companies involved will be cited for safety violations carrying more than $108,000 in fines.
More than a dozen workers were injured in the Jan. 27 accident at the downtown Horseshoe Casino project, where work has resumed. Most of the injuries were minor.
A spokesman for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration said Monday that certified letters about violations have been mailed out. Spokesman Scott Allen said he couldn’t identify the companies or the range of violations, pending their notifications.
A spokeswoman for Cincinnati-based Messer Construction says it has been notified of four citations totaling $25,200 in fines. She says Messer “respectfully disagrees” with some of the findings and has requested a conference with OSHA.
