The University of Minnesota is suing a website operator who posted a widely-used psychological test online.
The university says website operator Andrew Dobson of New Zealand violated copyright law by posting the test known as the MMPI. The test was developed by the university to assess personality traits and help diagnose psychiatric disorders. The lawsuit says Dobson posted the test and software that claims to interpret the answers to two websites. The information has since been removed after letters were sent threatening legal action.
University attorney Stuart Hemphill tells Minnesota Public Radio News that the lawsuit was filed to ensure the test was not reposted. Dobson did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
