Fire officials say they’ve been working with police and residents to investigate a recent rash of house fires in the eastern Iowa city of Clinton.
Battalion Chief Joel Atkinson told television station KWQC “it’s getting fairly busy” for local fire crews.
Some of the fires are suspicious, and no single cause has been found for the recent blazes.
A house fire on Nov. 28 killed one person.
Atkinson says the Fire Department has been working with police to interview neighbors and seek clues that might lead officers to an arsonist.
He says residents should keep an eye out, especially if they live near vacant homes.
