A man who claims American Crystal Sugar Co.’s failure to keep ice off a scale platform caused his fall and injury is suing the company for $50,000.
The Grand Forks Herald reports that Dean Dauner filed his suit in Traill County on Wednesday. His lawsuit alleges that the slippery conditions at a Hillsboro scale in January 2005, led to his fall.
The lawsuit says the fall caused Dauner to put his left hand through a window at a weigh station building. The suit says he had severe lacerations to his left hand.
American Crystal spokesman Jeff Schweitzer says the company does not comment on pending lawsuits.
