Police are searching for two men suspected of stealing a semitrailer rig carrying $1.7 million worth of tablet computers from a central Indiana truck stop.
Mike Milbourn of Chesterfield Police Department tells The Herald Bulletin the truck was stolen Thursday while the driver stopped at a Pilot Travel Center on Indiana 67 near Interstate 69 about 37 miles northeast of Indianapolis.
Police are seeking two men shown on security video, including one who follows the truck driver into the bathroom, then emerges and makes a call on his cellphone. Police believe the second man broke into the semi.
Police believe a third suspect may be involved.
Police say the gray 2007 Volvo tractor had a 53-foot white trailer carrying 22 pallets of tablet computers comparable to Apple’s iPad.
