FEMA to Give Illinois Suburb $500K for Blizzard Costs

The Chicago suburb of Naperville will receive more than $500,000 to help pay for the cleanup required after the historic February blizzard that struck Illinois.

The Daily Herald reports that the money will come from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Qualifying expenses included overtime, snow removal and government property damage.

Naperville city manager Doug Krieger says it’s the first time anyone in the city can remember receiving funding for snow removal.

The sprawling early February storm left virtually no corner of Illinois untouched. It dumped more than 20 inches of snow in Chicago, the third most in city history.
