Prosecutors have accused a truck driver of having marijuana in his system when he struck and killed a road construction worker in northeastern Indiana.
The Adams County Prosecutor’s Office filed a felony charge of causing death while driving with a controlled substance in his bloodstream against 37-year-old Gary Biehl of Huntington on Wednesday.
Police say Biehl was turning a semitrailer onto U.S. 27 in Decatur when it hit 25-year-old Ryan Zimmerman of Fort Wayne in a construction area on April 13.
The Journal Gazette reports that Biehl allowed authorities to draw his blood and prosecutors say tests found marijuana.
Biehl has been released from jail on bond. No home phone number was listed in name to call him for comment.
