A dump truck rear-ended a school bus in suburban Kansas City, sending six students and the bus driver to hospitals with apparently minor injuries.
Lee’s Summit School District spokeswoman Janice Phelan says the students were headed to the AmericanJazzMuseum when the accident happened Wednesday morning on Missouri 150 in Greenwood.
She says six of the 44 students aboard the bus were taken to Children’s MercyHospital, and the bus driver was taken to a different hospital.
Phelan says the other students were checked out by emergency personnel before returning to their school, Greenwood Elementary.
Greenwood Police Chief Robert Leslie says the dump truck driver wasn’t injured. He tried to avoid the accident but caught the passenger rear side of the bus and went into a ditch.
