Missouri Lieutenant Governor’s Car Stolen, Torched

April 27, 2011

Missouri’s lieutenant governor is without his Ford Flex crossover vehicle after someone stole it, rammed it into a gun shop and set it on fire.

Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder says he was notified around 6 a.m. Monday that the Flex had been found torched on a county road in southeastern Missouri’s Cape Girardeau County. Kinder is from Cape Girardeau and had been in town to speak at a naturalization ceremony.

The Southeast Missourian reports a 20-year-old Cape Girardeau man was arrested and charged with vehicle theft, tampering and attempted burglary.

Kinder told the newspaper the vehicle is “burnt to a cinder.” He also says he regrets having left the keys in it.
