The group that sets safety standards for sports equipment has gathered information from manufacturers about football helmets made over the past 10 years.
The National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment, or NOCSAE, in Overland Park, asked for certification test data and quality control documents, and said Monday that “all football helmet manufacturers have complied with the request.”
NOCSAE sought the information as it considers changing helmet safety standards, particularly for lower-level impacts.
An independent auditor will also analyze the data from the helmet makers.
