A small southern Indiana town expects work to start next spring on a project to prevent flooding similar to that which damaged several homes in 2008.
The $725,000 federal grant to the Jackson County town of Medora will pay for the installation of storm sewers in the community in the flood plain near the East Fork of the White River.
Town Council president Jim Davers tells The Tribune of Seymour that the project will take care of the entire community. He says the town received the grant in its second try following the June 2008 storm that caused extensive flooding in central and southern Indiana.
