FEMA Approves Nearly $150M for Illinois Flood Aid

September 16, 2010

Federal emergency officials say they’ve received just more than 71,000 registrations in Illinois for flood assistance.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency said Monday that as of Sept. 11 it has approved more than $148 million in assistance and inspected more than 65,000 homes. FEMA has disaster recovery centers in Freeport, Cicero, Westchester and Austin.

Seven Illinois counties were designated to receive funding after the flooding earlier this summer. Those counties include: Carroll, Cook, DuPage, Jo Daviess, Ogle, Stephenson and Winnebago.

FEMA officials remind qualifying residents that they have until Oct. 18 to register for aid.
