Ft. Pierre, S.D., Mayor Sam Tidball says the city’s insurance might cover some of the repair costs at homes with basements flooded by a water main break.
Tidball says some of the property owners likely have their own insurance, but the city will submit any claims it receives to its insurance company.
About 10 Ft. Pierre homes had flooded basements after the first of three water main breaks on Feb. 19, and over the weekend. The first break released 300,000 gallons of water. Damage to homes is estimated in the tens of thousands of dollars.
