Spiders bugged and even bit a woman at a rental home in Washtenaw County in Michigan. But that irritation wsn’t enough to win a lawsuit against the landlord.
The Michigan Court of Appeals says Tracey Redmann didn’t show that the spiders made the house unlivable. She accused Longfellow Street LLC and its managers of failing to eradicate the arachnids.
Redmann says she noticed an increasing number of spiders in April 2005. By June of that year, she says she was bitten and became ill. She moved out a month later.
The appeals court acknowledged that a spider infestation may not be an “ideal condition.” But the court said the spiders appeared to be seasonal, and Redmann still lived in the house for 11 months.
