A retired Wisconsin Supreme Court justice is suing an insurance company for refusing to cover damage to his vacation home in Hawaii.
Former Justice William Bablitch and his wife sued Allstate Insurance Co. after it refused to pay a $65,000 claim under their homeowner’s policy.
Their lawsuit says the Hawaii home suffered physical damage in October after a “sudden and accidental escape of water.” They say Allstate breached their contract in refusing to pay the claim in full and is acting in bad faith.
Allstate says it is acting reasonably in contesting the claim.
Bablitch served on the high court from 1983 to 2003.
