Seven more people have filed lawsuits over injuries they suffered in a fireworks accident last year in Charles City, Iowa.
Thirty-seven people were hurt during the July 4, 2008, fireworks display when a shell malfunctioned, setting off fireworks into the crowd.
Four people had already filed lawsuits against J&M Displays of Yarmouth. Those lawsuits claim negligence, failure to establish a safe distance between the crowd and the display and failure to have launch tubes and mortars angled to prevent a horizontal launch.
After the incident, the state fire marshal’s office said details of the incident would be difficult to determine because all of the evidence was destroyed in the blast.
